Iowa Man Arrested for Alleged Sexual Exploitation of 12-Year-Old
OTTUMWA, IOWA – In a shocking turn of events, an Iowa man has been accused of paying a 12-year-old child for sex over a period of three years, according to the Ottumwa Police Department.
On December 24, 2024, authorities received a tip regarding a potential sexual assault at an apartment in the 200 Block of South Ward Street in Ottumwa. Upon investigation, police discovered a 12-year-old victim who had been subjected to a harrowing ordeal at the hands of the suspect.
Arrest and Charges
On January 6, 2025, at around 2:10 PM, the Ottumwa Police arrested Jean-Baptiste Stinfort, a 57-year-old resident of 202 S. Ward, Ottumwa. Stinfort faces serious charges in connection to the disturbing case, including Human Trafficking, classified as a Class “A” Felony, and Sexual Abuse 2nd Degree, categorized as a Class “B” Felony.
Allegations of Prolonged Abuse
The allegations suggest that Stinfort allegedly paid the juvenile victim to partake in sexual acts with him over the course of three years, occurring on multiple occasions. The gravity of the situation has led to Stinfort’s incarceration at the Wapello County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
