Arlene June Johnson, a cherished member of the Mason City, IA community, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the age of 90. Her presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A Life Well-Lived

Arlene was born on June 23, 1934, to Peter and Josaphine Mondahl in Mason City, IA. She was a proud graduate of Mason City High School and went on to marry Dean Johnson on November 9, 1955, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Together, they had two children, Becky and Randy, and Arlene dedicated herself to creating a warm and loving home as a devoted housewife.

Embracing Joy in Simple Pleasures

Known for her love of the simple things in life, Arlene found immense joy in spending time tending to her garden, beautifying her yard, and enjoying shopping trips with her sisters. She also had a passion for lively card games and even took part in trapshooting on occasion. However, above all else, Arlene’s greatest source of happiness was her grandchildren, whom she adored and cherished deeply.

Fondly Remembered

Arlene leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, survived by her daughter Becky (Gary) Viers, grandchildren Mark Johnson and Kristin (Aaron) Patrick, siblings Norman (Millie) Mondahl and Gerald (Vel) Mondahl, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dean Johnson, son Randy Johnson, parents Peter and Josaphine Mondahl, and siblings Gilman Mondahl, Pearl (Bud) Harris, and Beatrice “Beets” (Bill) Trizulny.

As the Mason City community mourns the loss of Arlene, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
