Career and Love for Travel
After graduating from Martelle High School, Barbara pursued her passion for cosmetology at the University of Cosmetology in Iowa City. She eventually settled in Mason City, where she met Gerald Rickard, her beloved husband, whom she married on April 14, 1971. Throughout her career as a hairdresser and educator at La James Beauty School, Barbara’s skills and dedication shone bright. She later owned her salon, where she continued to serve her loyal clientele until retirement.

Barbara and Jerry shared a deep love for travel and cherished moments spent with family and friends. As an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the community, Barbara touched the lives of many. She is survived by her stepsons Mike Rickard (Deb) of Mason City, Iowa, and Steve Rickard of Cody, Wyoming, along with grandsons Greg, Tim, and Alex, and great-granddaughters McKenna and Presley. Her memory lives on through her brother, nephew, niece, and a host of dear friends.
