Black Ice Leads to Fiery Two-Car Collision at Clear Lake Intersection

CLEAR LAKE – Chaos ensued at a desolate Clear Lake intersection on Monday morning as icy roads caused a terrifying two-car accident, leaving two individuals hospitalized.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the incident occurred on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 7:58 AM. A 2019 KIA, driven by 77-year-old Gary Bradshaw of Clear Lake, was traveling eastbound on 27th Avenue S when it encountered black ice and veered into the east ditch of S 40th Street. Meanwhile, a 2023 Tesla, operated by 42-year-old Faisal Radwi of Clear Lake, was also heading east on 27th Avenue S and slid through the intersection, colliding with the KIA stranded in the ditch.

The collision resulted in one of the vehicles catching fire, as reported by the Clear Lake fire department. Fortunately, both Bradshaw and his passenger were swiftly transported to Mercy One North Iowa with injuries that were deemed non-life threatening.
