So, like, the Drake Relays went down this weekend, right? Cyclone men and women were all up in there, shaking things up at the 115th Drake Relays. Decathlon was the star on day one. Thai Thompson, the senior, did pretty well, getting fourth in the 100-meter dash, fifth in the long jump, and ninth in the shot put. Freshman Tristan Rheingans didn’t do so hot, with his best finish being 11th in the long jump.
But hey, junior Kiki Connell snagged gold in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Freshmen Sheridan Wheeler did pretty well too, coming in third. Day two was all about wrapping up the decathlon and unleashing the women’s distance events. Lathrop managed to get some top 10 finishes, while Rheingans finally got in on the action too. Spurgeon also had a decent showing.
In the unseeded races, the Cyclones didn’t quite make the top 10, but they put up a good fight. Freshman Betty Kipkore came in second in the 5,000-meter run, while junior Taylor Briggs grabbed sixth place in the 10,000-meter invite. Sounds like the Cyclones are doing pretty alright, huh?
