Mason City, IA – Gail Byre, a beloved member of the Mason City community, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on March 30, 1944, in Presho, SD, Gail leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

A Life Full of Adventures and Accomplishments

Gail’s journey began in South Dakota, where she attended Chamberlain schools and later graduated from Reliance High School in 1962. Throughout her life, Gail wore many hats – from being a talented cheerleader and baton twirler to mastering musical instruments like the coronet, piano, and accordion. Her spirit of curiosity and passion for learning led her to attend the National School of Business in Rapid City, SD, in 1982.

A Career Filled with Service and Dedication

After marrying Dale Byre in 1962, Gail embarked on a journey of ranching, entrepreneurship, and community service. From running businesses in South Dakota to managing offices in Iowa, Gail’s work ethic and commitment to excellence shone through in everything she did. Her roles at First Christian Church, NIACC, Clear Channel Radio, and Mason City Services showcased her versatility and dedication to serving others.

A Legacy of Love and Family

Gail’s true joy in life came from her family. As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and welcoming home for her loved ones. Her love for travel, cooking, storytelling, and fishing brought her family together and created lasting memories that will be cherished forever. Gail’s sons, Dale Dean Byre Jr., Jesse, Brett, and Bryan, along with her grandsons and extended family, were the center of her universe.
