Fred N. Clark, a beloved member of the Kanawha community, passed away at the age of 79 on Friday, January 10, 2025, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. His legacy will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Life and Legacy
Fred Nolan Clark was born on April 21, 1945, in Monette, Arkansas, to Fred Wesley and Lola Mae (Jones) Clark. Growing up in Monette, Fred attended school until the eighth grade before beginning work on a farm in northern Arkansas. In 1966, he made the life-changing decision to move to Iowa, where he eventually met the love of his life, Sharon Liddle. The couple exchanged vows on June 2, 1973, at the historic Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Fred dedicated himself to his work, spending 30 years at Clay Equipment in Cedar Falls before owning and operating Cedar Valley Electroplating from 1996 to 2004. In 2012, Fred and Sharon relocated to Kanawha to be closer to family, where he found joy in building farm toys and exploring flea markets.
Cherished Family Man
Fred is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, of Kanawha; two sons, Shawn (Kristi) Clark of Garner and Rodney (Deb) Clark of Waterloo; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews who will continue to honor his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Sheila Clark in 1971 and Rhonda Williams in 2019.
As friends and family gather to pay their respects at the memorial visitation on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner, the community reflects on the impact Fred had on those around him. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Harlington Cemetery in Waverly.
Fred N. Clark’s legacy lives on through the memories shared by those whose lives he touched. His kindness, dedication, and love for his family will forever be remembered in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Fred.
