Mildred Konicek, a beloved member of the Garner community, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the age of 100 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt. Born on November 10, 1924, near Elberon, Iowa, Mildred lived a rich and fulfilling life that touched the hearts of many.

### A Life Well-Lived
Mildred’s journey began on a farm near Elberon, where she grew up with her parents, Anton and Bessie Strachota. She attended Elberon High School and later tied the knot with Harold Konicek in 1947. The couple worked together on a farm near Elberon before relocating to Belle Plaine in 1977. Mildred’s dedication to her work was evident as she spent years at Beno Manufacturing in Belle Plaine before retiring. In 2014, she moved to Garner to be closer to her family and resided at Cardinal Grove Assisted Living until her passing.

### Cherished Memories
Mildred’s life was filled with simple joys and cherished memories. She found happiness in farm life, raising chickens, tending to her bountiful vegetable garden, and showcasing her culinary skills through delicious kolaches and baked goods. A talented seamstress and crocheter, Mildred lovingly crafted afghans for each of her grandchildren, marking significant milestones in their lives. Alongside her husband, she enjoyed socializing at dances, playing cards, and engaging in friendly competitions. In her later years, Mildred found delight in playing Bingo and various card games, creating lasting bonds with those around her.

### A Lasting Legacy
Mildred leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is survived by her children, Diane (Bob) Deibler, Allen (Sylvia) Konicek, and Cindy (Dave) Broadie, along with a sister, Bessie Hrstka, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. While she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, and two grandsons, Jason Konicek and Collin Broadie, Mildred’s spirit lives on through the memories shared by those who knew and loved her.

As we honor Mildred Konicek’s life and legacy, let us remember her for the light she brought into the lives of others and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures.
