Ronald Ditsworth: A Life Well-Lived
Ronald LeRoy Ditsworth, fondly known as Ron, bid farewell to this world at the age of 86 in his home in Algona, IA, on January 9, 2025. A man of many talents and passions, Ron’s memorial service is scheduled for February 6, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona, with inurnment at East Lawn Cemetery. The community will have the opportunity to pay their respects at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona on February 5, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Lentz Funeral Home of Algona will oversee the arrangements.
Early Life and Family
Born on March 23, 1938, in Algona to LeRoy and Loretta Ditsworth, Ron’s roots in the community ran deep. He attended Third Ward Elementary School and proudly graduated from Algona High School in 1956. It was at Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona where he exchanged vows with Luanna Mae Alt on April 5, 1959, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership.
Professional Journey and Retirement
Ron’s professional journey was marked by dedication and passion. His love for cars and motorcycles led him to Percival Motors before finding a home at Sieg Auto Parts in Algona. Over 36 years, he rose through the ranks to become manager and territory salesman. Even after retirement, Ron’s creativity shone through as he and Lu crafted wooden items showcased at craft shows across Iowa.
Life’s Adventures and Family Love
Beyond work, Ron’s heart belonged to his family. Together with Lu, they embarked on countless motorcycle adventures, creating cherished memories and traditions. His daughters, Pam and Jean, were his pride and joy, with Pam’s daughter Tayler, son Christian, and great-granddaughter Kinley bringing him immeasurable joy and love.

Ron’s legacy lives on through his beloved wife, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. His warm smile, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family will forever be cherished. In his final days, the compassionate care provided by St. Croix Hospice touched Ron’s heart deeply. In his honor, memorials can be directed to St. Croix Hospice.
