Donald Pinkele, affectionately known as Don, left a lasting impact on the community of Clear Lake before passing away on February 10, 2025, at the age of 74. Surrounded by his loved ones at Oakwood Care Center, Don’s legacy will be honored with a funeral service on February 18, 2025, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church. The service, officiated by Rev. Sylvester Holima, will be a time for family and friends to come together to celebrate Don’s life and share cherished memories.

A Life of Dedication and Love

Born on October 2, 1950, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Don was the son of Louis and Geneva Pinkele. Raised on a farm near Eagle Grove, he showed early promise in wrestling, excelling in the sport during his school years. After graduating from Eagle Grove High School, Don continued his education at Iowa Central Community College, where his passion for wrestling led him to help establish the school’s wrestling program. His dedication to the sport was matched only by his commitment to his studies, earning a business degree from Buena Vista College while juggling various jobs to support himself.

Don’s life took a new direction on June 11, 1973, when he married Louise Jeanette Nelson. The couple welcomed two sons, Andrew and Adam, into their lives, creating a close-knit family that would weather life’s challenges together. Despite facing adversity, Don found purpose in caring for his disabled son, Adam, at home, showcasing a depth of love and devotion that resonated with all who knew him.

A Lasting Legacy

Don leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories, cherished by his wife, Louise, his son Andrew and daughter-in-law Caitlin, and his grandchildren Samantha, Jolet, Corbin, Kaiser, and Elara. His sister, Donna Gonzalez, and a host of extended family members and friends also mourn his passing. The loss of his son, Adam, his brother, Douglas, his parents, Geneva and Louis, and sister-in-law Rose Herrmann, serves as a reminder of the profound impact Don had on those around him.

In lieu of flowers, Don’s family has requested that memorials be directed to Muscular Dystrophy in his memory, a touching tribute to his enduring spirit and generosity. As the community gathers to honor Don’s life and legacy, the outpouring of love and support is a testament to the impact he had on those who were fortunate enough to know him.

As we bid farewell to Donald Pinkele, we remember a man whose strength, kindness, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. In the quiet moments of reflection and shared stories, Don’s memory will live on, a beacon of light in the hearts of those who loved him most. And though he may be gone, his legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have him in their lives.
