Evonne Hagen, born on June 20, 1937, to Carl and Stella Hagen in Lake Mills, Iowa, led a remarkable life filled with hard work, resilience, and love. She graduated from Lake Mills High School and later married Stanley Witham, with whom she raised three children. Despite the challenges she faced, Evonne always found a way to persevere and find joy in the simple things in life.
### A Woman of Many Talents
Throughout her lifetime, Evonne wore many hats. She worked as a waitress, a nanny, and even ran her own food truck business, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to providing for her family. Despite the end of her marriage to Stanley, Evonne found love and companionship with James “Jim” Kofoot in the 1990s. Together, they shared a passion for travel, often embarking on adventures to casinos and exploring the beauty of the Black Hills.
### A Heart Full of Love
Christmas was a particularly special time for Evonne. She adored decorating for the season and cherished the moments spent with her family. One of her favorite traditions was playing Monopoly with her loved ones every Christmas. In addition to her love for the holiday season, Evonne enjoyed playing cards with friends, attending bingo nights, and participating in a senior bowling league for many years.
### Legacy of Love
Evonne’s greatest joy in life came from being a grandmother. She relished in taking her grandchildren on shopping trips, hosting unforgettable sleepovers, and bonding over simple pleasures like painting nails and sharing laughter. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many friends and family members who were touched by her kindness and love.
As we remember Evonne Witham, let us honor her legacy by cherishing the memories she created and the love she shared with all who knew her. May her spirit of resilience, love, and joy inspire us to live our lives to the fullest, just as she did.
