Reverend Dr. Sherman Glenn Wilson Jr., fondly known as Pastor Glenn, a beloved figure in the Mason City community, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26th, 2024, at the age of 72. Known for his unwavering faith, compassion, and dedication to service, Pastor Glenn’s life was a shining example of love and kindness.
Celebration of Life Service:
A celebration of Pastor Glenn’s remarkable life will take place at the First Presbyterian Church in Mason City on Tuesday, December 31st at 11 a.m. The visitation will commence at 10 a.m. on the same day. This service will be an opportunity for friends, family, and community members to come together and honor the legacy of Pastor Glenn.
In Memory:
In honor of Pastor Glenn, the family has requested that instead of flowers, donations be made to the Lakeshore Center on Okoboji. His memory will live on through the support and generosity of those who were touched by his remarkable spirit. Pastor Glenn’s legacy of faith and love will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
Early Life and Journey:
Born on July 19, 1952, in Leesburg, Florida, Glenn Wilson was the son of Sherman and Edna ‘Ruth’ Wilson. Growing up on a family farm in Florida, Glenn developed a strong work ethic and a deep love for the land. His passion for public speaking was ignited during his time as the State Parliamentarian for Florida’s Future Farmers of America, where he excelled as a leader.
Educational Pursuits:
After graduating from high school, Glenn pursued higher education at Lake-Sumter Community College and the University of Florida. He later obtained his Masters of Administration from Nova Southeastern University. Glenn’s journey led him to various roles, including journalism, teaching, and ultimately, his calling to ministry.
Legacy and Family:
Pastor Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Diane DiPietro Wilson of Mason City, his children Benjamin Wilson and Leon Wilson, and his sister Donna Wells and brother Randy Wilson. His impact on the communities of Mason City, Alaska, and beyond will forever be remembered and cherished.
