Ruth Ann Blazek: A Life to Remember

Ruth Ann Blazek, a beloved member of the Mason City community, passed away on December 30, 2024, at the age of 92 at Good Shepherd Health Center. She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and community involvement that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Early Life and Family

Ruth was born on October 21, 1932, in Mason City to James Glen and Marie Christine Blanchard. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and later graduated from Mason City High School in 1950. In 1952, she married Darold Blazek, with whom she shared a life full of love, family, and adventure.

A Life of Service and Dedication

Ruth played a crucial role in the family business, Blazek Electric, where she managed clerical tasks and kept meticulous records. She was known for her organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring the smooth operation of the business. Beyond her professional life, Ruth was deeply involved in Trinity Lutheran Church, where she participated in various activities, from counting offerings to making quilts with the quilting group.

Passions and Hobbies

In addition to her work and church involvement, Ruth found joy in playing Bridge and 500, engaging in friendly competition with members of multiple Bridge Clubs. She and Darold often hosted card games at their home, creating lasting memories with friends. Ruth was also skilled in cross-stitching and sewing, and during Christmas, she would bake Danish cookies to share with loved ones.

Legacy and Remembered

Ruth’s dedication to her family was unwavering, and she leaves behind daughter Cheryl Gildner, son Brian Blazek, grandchildren Erin and Ryan, and great-grandchildren Evan, Daniel, and Connor. Her impact on the community will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A Celebration of Life

A funeral service in memory of Ruth Ann Blazek will take place on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, followed by interment at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church, allowing friends and family to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or KCMR, honoring Ruth’s commitment to her community and church.

Ruth Ann Blazek will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on through the love and kindness she shared with those around her. May she rest in peace, knowing she made a lasting impact on the lives of many.
