WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a startling turn of events, Aldi has been forced to recall their chicken and cheese taquitos due to potential contamination with metal shavings, following reports of dental injuries. Bestway Sandwiches Inc., based in Valencia, Calif., is recalling around 24,870 pounds of frozen chicken and cheese taquito products that may contain foreign material, specifically metal, as announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Production of the frozen chicken and cheese taquito items took place between July 3, 2024, and September 25, 2024. The specific product subject to recall is the 20-oz. carton packages of “CASA MAMITA CHICKEN & CHEESE TAQUITOS,” labeled with Best By Dates of 07/03/25 and 09/25/25 on the bottom panel. Look out for the establishment number “EST. P-40327” on the carton package, as these items were distributed to select ALDI grocery stores across the nation.
The alarming discovery was made after Bestway Sandwiches Inc. informed FSIS of a consumer complaint regarding a piece of metal found in the frozen chicken and cheese taquito product. In addition, another consumer reported suffering a dental injury as a result of consuming the product. With fears that some of these contaminated products may still be in consumers’ freezers, FSIS is urging those who have purchased them not to consume them. Instead, it is recommended that these items be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
Consumer Safety Alert: Take Immediate Action
If you have Aldi’s chicken and cheese taquitos in your freezer, check for the specific Best By Dates mentioned and the establishment number on the packaging to ensure you are not at risk of consuming contaminated products.
Government Response and Safety Measures
The swift response from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) underscores the government’s commitment to protecting consumers from potentially harmful food products. By issuing this recall, they are working to prevent further injuries and ensure the safety of the public.
