Iowan Drives Patriotic Tractor in Canceled Inaugural Parade
Gary Leffler, a proud Iowan, had the honor of driving his 1957 Ford H tractor painted in red, white, and blue in what was supposed to be today’s Inaugural Parade in Washington D.C. Despite the unfortunate cancellation of the parade, Leffler still took his patriotic rig for a spin on the streets of the nation’s capital, drawing the attention of the long line of Trump supporters eagerly waiting for President-elect Donald Trump’s Sunday night rally.
A Strong Patriotic Theme
Leffler’s tractor is not just any ordinary vehicle. It boasts a strong patriotic theme with an American flag proudly displayed over the hood, alongside the inscription of John 3:16 near the steering wheel. Under the hood lies a heartfelt tribute to all the family members who have served in the United States military, symbolizing dedication and pride in their service.
Representing Iowa with Pride
Having previously made appearances at various events in Iowa dedicated to Republicans and veterans, this was the first out-of-state engagement for Leffler’s beloved tractor. For Leffler and his wife, this tractor is more than just a piece of machinery; it represents the heart and soul of Iowa. “100% of our motive is to represent Iowa and all the good people of Iowa,” Leffler passionately expressed.
An Unexpected Honor
Leffler, a precinct captain for Trump during the Iowa Caucuses, was pleasantly surprised when his tractor was selected for the Inaugural Parade among over 2800 potential entries. Reflecting on this unexpected honor, Leffler humorously shared, “The idea that a Gary and Janelle tractor from West Des Moines, Iowa, is being invited to this type of a thing is just somewhere off the charts.”
Personal Touch and Preparation
Despite the cold weather in D.C., Leffler and his wife remained unfazed as they proudly rode the tractor, waving at the enthusiastic crowd awaiting a glimpse of Trump. Before embarking on their journey to D.C., Leffler ensured that the tractor was in top-notch condition, taking it to the beauty shop for some finishing touches. “I had to take the tractor over to the beauty shop to get its tires and fenders done…detailed it all out, so it looks like it just came straight out of the factory now,” Leffler shared.
Iowan Unity and Support
Leffler was not the only Iowan in D.C. for the inauguration festivities. Many others from Iowa attended events like the Midwest Ball and a reception hosted by Iowa’s congressional delegation. Iowa Senator Joni Ernst even had the privilege of meeting with Trump for breakfast, showcasing the strong bond between Iowans and their support for the new administration.
In conclusion, Leffler’s journey with his patriotic tractor symbolizes the unwavering pride and dedication of Iowans in representing their state on a national stage, making a lasting impression with their heartfelt display of patriotism and unity.
