Martha Mannetter Remembered: A Life Well-Lived
Martha Mannetter, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at her home in Charles City, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, officiated by Pastor Intern Beth Hurt. Martha will be laid to rest at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.
### A Life of Love and Laughter
Martha (Crooks) Mannetter was born on July 2, 1939, in Ionia, Iowa, to Walter and Hattie Crooks. She spent most of her life in Nashua before moving to Charles City to live with her daughter Ann and her family. Martha was a graduate of New Hampton High School and had a colorful life filled with love, laughter, and joy.
### A Woman of Many Talents
Martha was known as the neighborhood Avon lady and had worked at Casey’s in Charles City and Beatrice Cheese/Conagra in Fredericksburg. She enjoyed playing BINGO with her friends in various towns and was always up for a game of Pinochle. Martha loved the thrill of living near the fairgrounds in Nashua, where she would watch Chuckwagon and Figure Eight Races.
### Remembering Martha
Martha is survived by her daughters, Ann Bettesworth, Christina Mannetter, and Melissa Fagle, along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community she was a part of for so many years.
Martha Mannetter’s legacy of love, laughter, and delicious desserts will always be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her kindness and warmth.
