He was 76 years old. Larry’s life will be celebrated in a funeral service on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City, with Pastor Paul Phillips officiating. The burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Larry Dale Sonne was born on March 23, 1948, in Charles City, Iowa, to Dale & Madelyn (Fisher) Sonne. He grew up alongside his sister, Jane (Sonne) Elfers, learning the values of hard work, farm life, and a deep love for horses. Larry attended various schools before graduating from Charles City Public School System in 1966. He was actively involved in 4H, FFA, and had a passion for wrestling.
Love Story and Family Life
Larry met Vicky Marie (Stauffer) Sonne at the Big Four Fair in Nashua, Iowa, and their love story began. The couple got married on September 7, 1968, and started a family together, raising three children: Randy Dale, Sandy Sue, and Kathy Marie. Larry’s love for horses was evident, and he passed that passion on to his children and grandchildren. He deeply cherished family gatherings and watched with joy as his family continued to grow.
