Remembering Paul A. Arndt: A Beloved Community Member

Paul A. Arndt, a cherished member of the Charles City community, passed away at the age of 84 on January 1, 2025, at 9th St. Chautauqua Guest Homes in Charles City.

A Life Well-Lived

Born on September 8, 1940, in Riceville, Iowa, Paul was the son of Carl and Leona Arndt. He was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend whose memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Paul shared a special bond with his twin sister, Pauline, and was a cherished sibling to his other brother and sister.

A Life of Service and Passion

After graduating from Charles City High School in 1960, Paul enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Panama. Following an honorable discharge in 1969, he returned to Iowa, where he pursued various interests and hobbies. Paul enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, pheasant hunting, and fishing, often exploring the beautiful lakes of northern Minnesota. Throughout his life, he held various jobs, including at the George A. Clark factory in Minneapolis, the Iowa Department of Transportation, and he eventually retired from Plumb Building Supply in New Hampton. An avid sports fan, Paul especially loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and passionately supported the Minnesota Vikings.

Family and Legacy

Paul is survived by his brother, Duane Arndt, and sister, Dixie Hughes, along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will continue to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Leona Arndt, as well as his twin sister, Pauline.

Paul A. Arndt’s presence in the community will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness, passion, and dedication will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, Paul.
