Etta Lou Bier: A Life Remembered
Etta Lou Bier, a beloved resident of Garner, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Westview Care Center in Britt. Her life will be honored and celebrated through funeral services to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the Garner United Methodist Church, with Rev. Kristin Peters officiating. Following the service, Etta Lou will be laid to rest at Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme.
A Life Well-Lived
Etta Lou Darlene Bier, born on March 28, 1928, on a farm in Hancock County, was the daughter of Daniel and Alice Webner. She spent her early years attending the rural schools of Hancock County until the eighth grade, where she also helped her family with farm chores. On December 14, 1946, she married Lloyd Bier at the Reformed Church parsonage in Klemme. Together, they lived on farms in the Klemme, Kanawha, and Garner areas. Etta Lou worked various jobs, including cleaning at Winnebago Industries and Prairie View Apartments, as well as assisting her son, Lloyd Jr., at Pizza Ranch in Garner.
A Woman of Faith and Family
Etta Lou was a devoted member of the Garner United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s group. She found joy in spending time with her family and attending auctions with her son, Lloyd. Etta Lou is survived by her children, Roberta Carolus, Diana Deibler, and Lloyd Jr., along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her family held a special place in her heart, and her legacy will live on through the memories she created with them.
A Lasting Impact
Etta Lou was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd, and other family members. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her. The community of Garner mourns the loss of a cherished member and friend.

Visitation for Etta Lou Bier will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, January 27th, at Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner, located at 160 E. 4th St. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral services at the Garner United Methodist Church.
