Born on June 17, 1941, in Lake City to Rex and Violet “Adelyn” (Lindquist) Miller, Lois Deann Brinkman spent her formative years in Iowa. She pursued her education at Iowa State Teachers College before marrying Martin Junior Brinkman on July 14, 1963, in Gowrie. The couple welcomed two sons into their lives and together, they owned and operated Marty’s Saloon in Sheffield, a business deeply intertwined with the local community.

Lois was known for her love of reading and traveling, often journeying across the country to support her sons and grandsons in their sporting endeavors. Family was at the heart of everything she did, cherishing every moment spent with her loved ones. A faithful member of Zion St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lois was a pillar of strength within the Sheffield community.

Survived by her sons, Michael (Carla) Brinkman of North Liberty and Matthew (Jamie) Brinkman of Council Bluffs, Lois leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. Her grandsons, Dylan (Alex) Frascht, Mason Brinkman, Jacob (McKenzie) Brinkman, Mitchell (Abbey) Brinkman, and Jared Brinkman, along with her great-grandchildren, Beckett and Fynlee Frascht, Ryker Brinkman, and Callan Brinkman, will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She is also survived by her brother Dale Miller of Gowrie, sisters-in-law Ina Brinkman, Carol Miller, and Darla Miller, brother-in-law Jerry Paullin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marty Brinkman, brothers Lloyd and Dennis Miller, sister Margaret Paullin, parents-in-law Martin and Meta Brinkman, and several siblings-in-law. In honor of her memory, the family has requested that donations be made to support the Sheffield community in lieu of flowers.

As we bid farewell to Lois D. Brinkman, we remember her as a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Her legacy of love and community spirit will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew her.
