Janice Louise Olson, a beloved member of the Bode and Humboldt communities, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the age of 90 at West Bend Health and Rehabilitation. Born on September 13, 1934, between Bode and Livermore, Iowa, Janice touched the lives of many through her vibrant spirit and remarkable adventures.
### A Life Well-Lived
Janice’s journey began on a farm in Iowa, where she grew up with her parents, Earl Raymond and Aldean Olson. She graduated from Bode Community Schools in 1952 and embarked on a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. Janice was married twice in her lifetime, first to Marlyn Pflibsen in 1951, with whom she had three children, and later to Ronald Parker in 1997.
### A Woman of Many Talents
Throughout her life, Janice embraced every moment with a sense of adventure and passion. A dedicated member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode, she found solace and community in her faith. Janice was known for her love of travel, having explored all seven continents and even biking across the United States. Her culinary skills were legendary, as she delighted friends and family with her famous lefse and showcased her fearlessness by skydiving for her 60th and 80th birthdays.
### A Legacy of Love
Janice leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her children, Jeanne (Steve) Gibson and Julie (Pete) Mertz, daughter-in-law Kathy Pflibsen, grandchildren Ben Pflibsen, Jim Mertz, and Sharon Hanson, six great-grandchildren, and her dear son Larry Jenson. While she is no longer with us, Janice’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
