Richard Vroman, a beloved resident of Iowa Falls, passed away at the age of 91 on January 11, 2025, at the Mill Pond Care Center in Ankeny. His funeral services will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls, where he was a lifelong member. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Union Cemetery with full military honors. Richard’s legacy will be honored by his family, friends, and the community he touched during his life.
Remembering Richard Vroman
Richard Keith Vroman was born on March 14, 1933, in Clarion, Iowa, to Annis and Ula Marie Vroman. After graduating from Iowa Falls High School, Richard served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean conflict, stationed in South Korea. His military service was a source of pride for him, and he cherished the camaraderie of his fellow soldiers throughout his life.
A Life of Service and Dedication
Following his military service, Richard married Mary Ann Wolf in 1956 at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls. They built a life together on Weyrauch Road, where they resided for 57 years. Richard worked for Iowa Electric Light and Power for 36 years, earning recognition for his dedication and work ethic in providing quality service to the community.
Cherished Memories and Legacy
Richard’s life was filled with joy from his family, friends, and hobbies. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and golfing, and even helped build the Meadows Hills Golf Course in Iowa Falls. Richard was a member of the Moose Lodge and cherished time spent with his classmates, playing cards, dominoes, and watching sports on TV. He loved sharing stories of his childhood and working in his yard on his riding lawn mower. In the winters, he and Mary Ann spent time at their home in Arizona, creating lasting memories together.
Richard is survived by his children, Luann Van Lengen and Linda Patrick, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. His brother, Myland Vroman, and extended family will continue to honor his memory. Richard’s passing marks the end of an era for those who knew and loved him, but his spirit will live on through the stories and memories shared by those whose lives he touched.
