State Economic Funds Approved for Coralville, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Le Grand – Radio Iowa
Two startup companies in Iowa are receiving a much-needed financial boost from the Iowa Economic Development Authority board. The IEDA recently approved funds for these innovative businesses, highlighting the state’s commitment to fostering economic growth and innovation.
Reality Wave, a cutting-edge company based in Coralville, is one of the recipients of this financial support. According to IEDA spokesperson Kannan Kappleman, Reality Wave has been granted a $50,000 proof of commercial relevance loan. The company specializes in utilizing artificial intelligence technology to provide objective evaluations of academic manuscripts and grant proposals. This unique approach ensures that scholarly articles meet the highest quality standards in a timely manner, making Reality Wave a key player in the academic publishing industry.
In addition to Reality Wave, another Iowa-based startup, Tumblewood VITA, located in Des Moines, has also received a significant loan from the IEDA. Kappleman revealed that Tumblewood VITA was awarded a $100,000 demonstration fund loan for product refinement. The company offers a comprehensive step-by-step approach to managing end-of-life and post-loss plans. Their innovative product, a legacy planning software, helps individuals and families organize records, log final wishes, and carry out the final wishes of their loved ones with ease and efficiency.
Community Attraction and Tourism Grants Elevate Cedar Rapids and Le Grand
Furthermore, the IEDA has recognized the importance of community development by awarding Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grants to two deserving communities in Iowa. The Community Theatre of Cedar Rapids has been granted a substantial $500,000 award for their ‘Dream Here, Do Here’ project. This initiative focuses on the renovation of the historic building’s upper stories to create additional classroom and rehearsal space, enhancing the community theater’s offerings and promoting arts and culture in the region.
Additionally, the city of Le Grand in Tama and Marshall County has received over $44,000 in funding for park improvements through a community project. This project includes the installation of new playground equipment, upgrades to surfacing, and the introduction of pickleball courts. According to Kappleman, these enhancements will complement a new housing development in the area, providing residents with access to quality recreational facilities and promoting a sense of community spirit and engagement.
As the state of Iowa continues to invest in innovative businesses and community projects, the future looks bright for economic growth and development across the region. By supporting startups like Reality Wave and Tumblewood VITA, as well as community initiatives in Cedar Rapids and Le Grand, the IEDA is paving the way for a thriving and vibrant economy in Iowa.
